This strain is sort of like Pink Kush’s less-famous sister. Similar to the better-known heavy indica, Pink Tuna starts off with a light green colour that becomes more yellow as it ferments but is not quite as strong or stinky smelling. However, this strain does have all the hard-hitting effects of its stronger counterpart.

Pink Tuna is an 80% – 20% indica/sativa hybrid created by crossing Bubblegum Stomper and Granddaddy Purple. Bubblegum Stomper was reportedly either Bubble Gum or Cotton Candy crossed with Grape Punch, while Granddaddy Purple was itself a cross between Big Bud and Purple Urkle. These are definitely not strains for amateurs, so users are advised to be careful with their intake.

It’s not difficult for growers at all, provided they have the space. It is a short flower that won’t need any support during flowering and can produce up to 500g/m² under optimum conditions. Grown outdoors it will usually be ready for harvesting by mid-October, or when the first signs of frost appear in colder climates.

The Pink Tuna high is typical Indica: relaxing and lethargic but with an increased appetite and a strong desire to just sit on the couch and vegetate – especially in larger doses! This strain may also leave you feeling slightly ‘spaced out’ so don’t plan any activities involving physical coordination while you’re stoned.

Add this to the fact that it smells like Granddaddy Purple and you’ve got yourself a strong strain with no nuances or subtleties. If you’re looking for something more cerebral, stick with Pink Kush.

Taste-wise, Pink Tuna has a sweet yet slightly earthy flavour. Yum! No one will be able to accuse you of not knowing what your weed smells like if you’ve got some Pink Tuna in your supply! All around, this is not one of the most spectacular strains out there but its effects are really hard-hitting – even for an indica. So if you’re after all-out body stone rather than something for staring at a wall and contemplating life then give it a go!
